Answers to what Linda and Marcus get asked most before a move gets booked. Don’t see your question? Call (888) 278-9005.
Are you a real moving company, or do you just book movers for me?
Yes — Sun's Transport is a fully licensed and insured local moving company based in Irwindale, CA. We run our own trucks and uniformed crews on every job, with California DMV and US DOT/MC authority on file.
How much does a move cost?
Local moves are billed hourly: $165/hr for a 2-mover crew, $215/hr for 3 movers, and $265/hr for 4 movers, plus a $175 refundable deposit to hold your date. Long-distance and specialty moves like pianos or safes are quoted individually after a quick walkthrough.
Do you handle packing, or is that on me?
We offer full-service packing if you'd rather not spend a weekend boxing a kitchen. Michelle's crew can pack the whole house or just the fragile items — ask about it when you request your quote.
How far in advance should I book?
Two to three weeks out is comfortable for a local move. Summer weekends and long-distance runs to Vegas or Phoenix fill up faster, so book those further ahead. We also take last-minute jobs when a truck happens to be open.
Do you move pianos and safes?
Yes. Danny's crew handles piano and safe moves with proper rigging and straps, not just a dolly. Since an upright, a baby grand, and a 600-lb gun safe all move differently, we quote these individually after seeing photos or a quick walkthrough.
What's your deposit and cancellation policy?
A $175 deposit holds your move date and is applied to your final bill. Cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled move and the deposit is fully refunded.
Do you offer storage?
Yes, short-term storage in our own Irwindale bay — useful for a gap between move-out and move-in dates. It's our building, not a rented unit somewhere else in the valley.
Should I tip the movers?
Tipping isn't required, but it's appreciated and goes straight to the crew that worked your job. Most customers tip $20-40 per mover for a full day, more for a tough move with stairs or a piano.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in Irwindale and move households throughout Azusa, Baldwin Park, Duarte, Covina, and West Covina, plus nearby Glendora, Monrovia, Arcadia, El Monte, San Dimas, La Puente, and City of Industry.
Is my stuff insured during the move?
Every move includes basic released-value protection at $0.60 per pound per item, the federal minimum for household goods carriers. Full-value protection, covering 1-3% of your shipment's declared value, is available if you want fuller coverage, and our trucks carry $1M in cargo insurance.
Do you do long-distance moves?
Yes. Danny drives the long-distance routes out of Irwindale to Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Francisco, San Diego, and Sacramento himself, in the same truck the whole way — nobody hands your boxes off to another carrier partway there.
What are your hours?
Our office and crews run Monday through Saturday, 8am to 7pm. Call (888) 278-9005 or send a quote request anytime and Linda or Marcus will follow up the next business day.
Do you subcontract moves to another company?
No. Every job runs on our own trucks with our own crew, titled to Sun's Transport. We don't hand moves off to subcontractors or day-labor crews.
Do you move apartments and condos with strict building rules?
Regularly. Michelle's crew knows which Covina and Baldwin Park complexes require a certificate of insurance before the freight elevator opens, and we handle that paperwork ahead of your move date.
